Believe it or not February is quickly coming to a close! Our basketball teams have now concluded their seasons. Thanks to Mr. Prahalad, Ms. Vivieros, Mr. Gaull, Ms. Taylor, Mr. Marks and Ms. Blouin for coaching and mentoring our student athletes. Many of our Grade 12 students participated in and contributed to a very successful Grad Fashion Show earlier in the month. Click here to view a short video of highlights from the evening. Thank you to Mr. Malo for sponsoring this event. February 25th is the annual Pink Shirt Day in support of anti-bullying. We encourage as many people as possible to wear pink to demonstrate their support for this movement. As well, at the end of this month over 100 students will be participating in the Famine event.

By now, students should have selected courses for next year. Counsellors are available to assist students who have not already done so. I encourage students and parents to speak to a counsellor, our Career Advisor, Ms. Deane and access the Career Centre website for information that will help students plan for their futures.

We are nearing the end of Term 2 and Report Cards will be posted on March 12th. Parents can view report cards through Parent Connect.

In addition, I'd like to alert you to the following upcoming events.

  • Feb 25: Collaboration Day
  • Feb 25: Pink Shirt Day
  • Feb 27-28: Famine
  • Mar 2: Parents as Career Coaches Workshop #2
  • Mar 4: Collaboration Day
  • Mar 6: Grade 9 Immunizations
  • Mar 12: Term 2 Report Cards posted on Student & Parent Connect
  • Mar 13: Last Day of Classes before Spring Break

We will continue to post updates about school events on Twitter and Facebook. I encourage you to connect with us as another way of staying informed about what is going on in and around the school.

As always, the staff is here to support you so please do not hesitate to call on me or any one of the staff if you have questions.

Mr. A. Akune, Principal
