Principal's Message

Take Your Kid to Work Day All took place on November 4th. We were excited to see all of our Grade 9 students visit a work environment and shadow a parent, relative or family friend on a job site.

Leading up to Halloween there was a lot of excitement created by Halloween Spirit Week. Spirit Week culminated in the annual Costume Contest organized by Student Council and a real-life Haunted House created by Sands Drama, Science 8 and Art students. It was a terrific example of the power of student collaboration across disciplines. Our neighbors from Gray Elementary visited the Haunted House and celebrate the Halloween festivities. Catch some Halloween highlights in our Halloween video

On Tuesday, November 10th, staff and students paid their respect to those who have served our country by participating in our Remembrance Day Assembly. Sands was fortunate to be visited by Cpl. B. Tyre, who shared his experience and perspective on Remembrance Day.  For information relating to Remembrance Day and to see how others are recognizing this important event, please check out #RememberThem and #MyCAF or the Canadian Armed Forces on Facebook.

Interim reports were posted on November 9th. I encourage parents to view their child's Interim Report on Parent Connect and stay updated on their progress in courses.
